What is HUMLIT?

HUMLIT – Developing Humour Literacy: Analysing Production, Content and Reception of Humour to Bring Positive Change in the Public Sphere is an international research and exchange project coordinated by the Jagiellonian University in Kraków. It brings together 25 partner institutions from 15 countries, both within and outside the European Union. HUMLIT is funded by the European Union through the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Staff Exchanges programme under Horizon Europe (Project no. 101182860).

Funded by the European Union

This project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 101182860.

HUMLIT aims to explore how humour can be used responsibly to navigate conflict, promote dialogue, and foster mutual understanding across cultures and societies. In a world where humour can both connect and divide, this project focuses on increasing our "humour literacy": the ability to understand, interpret, and communicate humour across social, political, and cultural lines.
